Kathryn explains how one particular week drove her 'quackers'...
“I’m sick of amendments.”
That was my cry during a particularly busy week not so long ago.
Now, I’m not taking about fixing a grammatical error in an email – that’s pretty much a daily occurrence – I’m talking about making amendments to a fully produced advert.
There I was in the studio recording voice sessions, mixing and editing said voices with music and sound effects, followed by sending the final product off for approval, only to be faced with a sigh inducing, “Oh, we love it, but we need to redo it as [this] has changed.”
In that one week I faced price changes, venue changes, date changes, “sorry, we’re not doing that anymore, we’re doing this” changes.
But while I felt like a duck [*] as I rebooked the voiceovers and trundled back to the studio over and over… and over again, being able to remake something on short notice is a position, as audio advertising specialists, we are highly privileged to be in.
Having our own fully equipped studios, as well as direct access to a host of voiceovers means we’re not reliant upon third parties when it comes to amending adverts. We can, and do, act instantly of our own volition. And despite my light-hearted mutterings, we are always more than happy to get all those proverbial ducks back in a row as quickly as possible.
