Enough Is Enough

'Legal, Honest, Decent and Truthful,' Matthew muses as to why this doesn’t always seem to be the case and why "Enough really is Enough!"

Now then.

This is a fun blog…or that’s what it said on the calendar.

Should I really be writing a fun blog at the moment – certainly not if the news headlines on the cost of living crisis are anything to go by.

I am very much from the school of – there’s always a way. Laissez faire in my outlook you may say – I’d say positive.

I’ve started to avoid the news – not because I’m sticking my head in the sand but because I don’t necessary always believe what I’m reading and/or listening to!

Therein lies the problem – I’m no tech type aficionado – nor do I pretend to be but I’m pretty sure that some of the stuff on so called mainstream news sites and especially on social media is nothing short of Billy from Bakewell’s view or Jemma from Jesmond’s.

Based on, well – not a whole heap from what I can make out.

Look – I know I’m not telling you anything you don’t know but frankly – I’ve had enough.

I’m happy to listen to a balanced well-constructed debate (and we have plenty in our office) but this seems to be a thing of the past – or maybe I’m romanticising and its never actually existed.

We work in a sector – highly regulated – that dictates everything we broadcast is Legal, Honest, Decent and Truthful. Yep – it won’t get to air if it’s not fulfilling these basic criteria. It’s just a shame that this can’t be said for some of the millions of ‘publishers’ with a very lowercase p that seem to get column inches, airplay – well you get the picture.

I genuinely don’t think that anything will change, seemingly its progress.

Well, I’ve had Enough. I appreciate that it won’t make a jot of difference. But if it’s all right by you I’m going to attempt to employ Legal, Honest, Decent and Truthful mantra to how I go on.

Oh, and by the way, if you want to make some unsubstantiated claims in your next audio campaign, please don’t call us.

Have a lovely day.

Matthew
